Mackay Basketball would like to introduce and welcome our new General Manager, Damon Selwyn.
Damon brings a wealth of experience in sports administration to Mackay Basketball at both community club level and at a national level in a governance capacity.
Having worked predominantly in the golf club industry for over 20 years in operational and management roles, Damon has a broad base of knowledge and experience in administration, governance, hospitality, major events, strategic/business planning and sponsorship in resort operations, private member clubs and community clubs in New Zealand, Melbourne and Brisbane.
Damon has a passion for basketball having coached age group teams for 4 years in the BBI junior competition from U-13s to U-17s. Last year Damon was the Head Coach for the U-17 Boys program at West Brisbane Falcons Club and coached the division one U-17 boys team to the semi-finals in 2020.
Damon notes his career highlights as having served 3-years as an independent director on the National Executive for Golf Management Australia and delivering the biennial national GMA conference, and receiving a scholarship to attend the American Club Managers Conference in New Orleans in 2012.
As General Manager, Damon oversees all aspects of Mackay Basketball and together with his team will be focused on:
- Facility Hire & Outside Events
- Junior and Senior Domestic Competitions
- Junior Representative Programs
- NBL1 Program
- Facility Maintenance
- Sponsorship Opportunities
