NBL1 North Season Update

The Coles Express NBL1, Basketball Queensland and all NBL1 North clubs have agreed to immediately conclude the regular season and advance to the NBL1 North Conference Finals.

The regular season ends with Men’s and Women’s ladders as they currently stand. The NBL1 North rules state that placings are determined by win percentage and allow for tie-breaker scenarios, which have been used to determine placings.

The NBL1 North Conference Finals will begin on Saturday August 28. The NBL1 North Women’s quarter-final schedule is:

(1) Southern District Spartans vs (8) Northside Wizards | Saturday August 28, 5:30pm AEST

(2) Logan Thunder vs (7) Brisbane Capitals | Saturday August 28, 6pm AEST

(3) Townsville Flames vs (6) Gold Coast Rollers | Saturday August 28, 6pm AEST

(4) Mackay Meteorettes vs (5) Sunshine Coast Phoenix | Saturday August 28, 6pm

The NBL1 North Men’s quarter-final schedule is:

(1) Logan Thunder vs (8) Southern District Spartans | Saturday August 28, 8pm AEST

(2) Mackay Meteors vs (7) Brisbane Capitals Saturday | August 28, 8pm AEST

(3) Townsville Heat vs (6) Cairns Marlins | Saturday August 28, 8pm

(4) Gold Coast Rollers vs (5) USC Rip City | Saturday August 28, 7pm AEST

Semi-final weekend will take place on September 3-5 with the highest ranked quarter-final winner hosting the lowest ranked quarter-final winner and the second highest ranked quarter-final winner hosting the second lowest ranked quarter-final winner.

The best of three game NBL1 North Conference Grand Final series will take place on September 10- 12 with the highest ranked semi-final winner hosting the lowest ranked semi-final winner.

All NBL1 North teams have been consulted on the decision and the league thanks them for their cooperation in what are challenging circumstances.

The decision to advance straight to the finals has been made to avoid as much conflict with players and coaches’ other commitments, along with venue constraints due to the start of the BQJBC (Basketball Queensland Junior Representative) and upcoming domestic season preparations.

The community’s health and safety is paramount and we will continue to follow the latest guidelines and requirements.

The Coles Express NBL1 and all State Associations will continue to follow the advice of the relevant health authorities.
