Hello Mackay Basketball Members and Families,
We hope that you are all dealing well through the uncertain times bought about by the Covid-19 pandemic and had an enjoyable Easter at home with your families. We are writing to you today to give some updates around Basketball to keep you informed as best we can.
Office Open While Courts Closed to Staff & Workers Only
The office at McDonald’s Mackay Stadium is open between the hours of 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, to staff and workers only. Please note that the facility remains closed during these unprecedented times. The staff at Mackay Basketball will continue their duties courtesy of the Jobkeeper payments supplied by the Federal Government. I would like to acknowledge the work done behind the scenes over the past weeks by these staff members, who have worked tirelessly in trying times, doing the kind of jobs there is normally no time to do. This will ensure the best possible facilities are available when we get back to more normal times. All staff have also ensured to put MBI first during these times by taking the Jobkeeper payments only, once they became available, until we resume life as normal. Although not required to do so under legislation around the payment, they have the future of the club at the forefront and as such will continue working during this period with the goal of being ready to play as soon as given the green light by relevant authorities.
Representative Program Update
Basketball Queensland is still reviewing its options around representative basketball for 2020 regarding Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16 age groups. If you are involved in these programs you should have received an email from Basketball Queensland regarding a survey around these events to assist them in making decision going forward. If you did not receive this email or completed this survey it would be appreciated if you can do so as soon as possible. Basketball Queensland has set a date of May 22 for their next review of the representative programs.
Member Survey
One small benefit of this health-related shutdown is the possibility for Mackay Basketball to review its current operations for the benefit of our members. Soon MBI will be circulating a survey to all current members. It would be appreciated if as many members as possible complete the survey so MBI can use the data obtained directly from members to help guide Mackay Basketball through 2020 and beyond.
New Website
MBI is developing a new and improved website during this shutdown period, to provide a more concise and easier to use page for our members. This is currently under production and we will advise when the page is live.
Grandstand Project
The new corporate grandstand has been coming along well, even withstanding some supply issues due to Covid-19 and will be completed before we are back and operational. We hope you all follow the Mackay Basketball Facebook page which has been supplying weekly updates (with a comical approach) to you all.
