CHARTERS TOWERS, QUEENSLAND – Our McDonald’s Mackay Meteors have added another piece of silverware to their ever-growing trophy cabinet, after the side was recognised as the ‘Team of the Year’ at the 2021 NQ Sportstar Awards.

The inaugural NQ Sportstar Awards took place in 1990 and is the longest running dedicated sporting awards in Queensland.

For 30 years the awards have played a major role in sporting communities recognising the incredible achievements of regional North Queensland athletes and teams.

Meteors Team Manager Craig Bradford was on deck to receive the trophy and cheque at the annual Gala Event held this year in Charters Towers.

The Meteors took home the award following an outstanding 2021 season, where the side finished with 15 wins & 3 losses and were crowned inaugural NBL1 North Champions.
